The threat of redundancy can be very stressful for any employee.
At a time like that your head is all over the place and you don’t necessarily know what you are entitled to, or indeed if the redundancy is fair.
The main points to consider are:
- Are you the only one at risk of redundancy and if so should others doing the same or similar work be in the pool?
- Have you been invited to a consultation meeting to allow you the opportunity to put forward any ideas you may have to avoid redundancy?
- Have you been allowed the opportunity to be accompanied by a work colleague or trade union representative?
- If the redundancy has been confirmed have you been offered the correct amount of redundancy pay and notice pay?
